XP to SWMM 4 Converter Exe

You need to run the program in the Windows DOS prompt. It will make a file with the extension of .epa which is the SWMM 4.4 data file

Note, XP-SWMM is based on a SWMM 4 version from 1992 with added features over the course of a few decades.   There is not an equivalent function in SWMM 5 for every SWMM 4 command or feature and these will not be created in the .epa file.

In particular, if the model had # symbols in the subcatchment names these will not be allowed in SWMM 5 - you need to edit the .epa file and convert the # to _or some other accepted placeholder.

I used the converter with the following steps:

  1.  Conveted your dat file to a SWMM 4 EPA file
  2. Converted the ,epa file to a SWMM 5 input file
  3. Opened up the input file in SWMM 5 and noted the errors
  4. Fixed the errors in the .epa model and then reconverted the model toi SWMM 5
  5. I had to do this a few times as I noted different errors.
